So sorry that it has taken me all week to post part two of our weekend away from last weekend. I wrote this earlier this week, and then never posted it. Its been a tough week finding out that a college friend of mine was diagnosed with leukemia and also John's thirteen year old cousin is having surgery to remove a melanoma on her skin.
More on that later, but please keep them in your prayers.
For now, here's the follow up to my last post.
Saturday evening we drove to Southport, NC and woke up Sunday morning for a beautiful day on the beach. Let me tell you, I am used to just grabbing my chair, towel, and a good book and heading out to the beach. With a baby…its not so simple. It was actually a little overwhelming with him being so little. There was sand on every inch of that cute little baby! It was fun though, and so sweet to watch him enjoy the sand on his little toes.
After a few hours on the beach, we went to wander the waterfront of Southport, ate lunch at our favorite hole-in-the wall seafood restaurant, visited the little gazebo that John proposed to me (as we do every time we visit this town), and headed home. It was the perfect short get away...and I am so thankful for a baby that travels well!
