Show and Tell Monday / Dream Home

Since John builds homes for a living, it seems like we are always discussing our dream home and what we would like it to have or look like. We are the couple that can spend hours in Lowes picking out hardwoods, cabinets, countertops, and door knobs for a home we don't own. We kind of love doing that actually...which is why I kind of love this link up from From Mrs to Mama.

1. If you were searching for a home now, tell me what would be on your "MUST" list.
Funny…we are indeed searching for a home right now. Our must haves…
1.  A large yard, room to play. We would love it to be fenced, but that isn’t a deal breaker, you can add a fence…you can’t add a yard.
2. Open floor plan. Our home now is really small, and broken, it is awful to try to entertain anyone in, even just another couple. I want something open, that you can breath in, and not feel crowded when you invite your friends over.
3. Good storage space. Our current home has none. No attic, no basement, no good closets. We use the bonus room as our storage room- it is a nightmare.
4. Hardwoods. I know this sounds silly, as you can always put hardwoods into a home. But, our home currently has carpet..everywhere. And it’s a nightmare. I feel like it isn’t clean, ever. I want hardwoods so I can have cleanliness.
5. A Larger kitchen. We have a teensy galley kitchen right now, and the laundry closet is also in there- talk about crowded. John and I are all over each other when we are trying to cook or clean. Add the dog and the baby- it’s a disaster waiting to happen. You can’t open the dryer and the refrigerator at the same time, because they are right across from each other.  We spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and need more counter space, and just space in general.
I’ll stop at 5 :)

2. Show me your favorite room in a home {either your home, or any home, i.e. kitchen}.
I love the openness of this kitchen. The crispness of the white, the light, pretty much everything about it. I’m a sucker for a white kitchen!

3. If you could have any room redone, tell me which one would it be and what would you like done?
I would redo a kitchen- not in our current house because we rent, but in any house. I think the kitchen is the heart and soul of the house, and should be amazing. It can add a huge value to the home, or really be an eyesore.

4.Tell me where your favorite stores are to shop for home decor.
I love browsing Pottery Barn Catalogs and then going to places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Home Goods to recreate the look. Its kind of ridiculous to pay 100.00 for a basket when Home Goods has it for 30.

5.Show me your dream home {it can be your home as well}

  5. Just popping by from the link up! I LOVE that kitchen and it was actually the inspiration pic for our new paint color.
    I am with you on hardwoods - I'm so over the carpet we have downstairs as well! No matter how often I vacuum I just don't feel it's ever clean!
