summer vacation 2013

This past week we ventured to the beautiful island of Siesta Key, Florida. Typically we go to to our NC beaches, but something struck a nerve in me this year and I decided to plan something out of the norm. Gorgeous white sand and crystal clear water were calling my name, and Siesta Key delivered. It was a perfect week full of sun and salt air. Each morning we slept in, drank coffee and ate breakfast as a family, and hit the beach for as long as we possibly could. We swam, watched the fish, and even saw a manatee cruise by. Let me tell you, I have always loved the ocean, but watching your world through the eyes of your child brings a whole new excitement to things. I hope I never forget the way Landon took it all in, the way he splashed in the waves and watched all the fish swim around him. Or the way a hole in the sand and a bucket of water pretty much made his day. This kid surprises me everyday, and this past week was no exception. Prepare for picture overload…
