the newest member of the family

I love photography- I'm pretty sure that's no secret. I purchased my first DSLR a little over four years ago and have poured myself into countless books, tutorials, and websites teaching myself the ins and outs of capturing life. One of the greatest things about this hobby is that there is always something else to learn or challenge myself with.

Unfortunately, over the past six to eight months I haven't had nearly enough time to devote to photography as I would have hoped. Between working full time and a stressful working environment, building our home, and moving at the beginning of the year- I just didn't pick up my camera as much as I had hoped. While part of me is disappointed in that, the other part of me realizes that that is life. And sometimes sitting on the couch watching mindless television, or going to bed early is way more important.

Another reason I hadn't picked up my camera is because I had really grown frustrated with it. I wanted more from it, more than it was able to produce. I wanted better quality images, better low light capability, and really just needed an upgrade from my refurbished D90. I'd felt that way for a while, and when the D610 came out, I knew that it was the next camera for me.

Last week I finally purchased my very own Nikon D610. I can't tell you how proud of a purchase it is for me. The fact that I know how to use a camera of that quality, saved my pennies for it, and purchased it off of my own knowledge and understanding of photography really shows me how far I've come. (And I still have a long ways to go!).

So now that this little baby is finally home, I really hope to get back in my groove of weekly if not daily picture taking, editing, and posting on a more regular basis here on this space!
