announcing baby #2!

Thats right! In case you missed on my Facebook or Instagram, yesterday we announced that we are adding a little bundle of joy to our family! Baby number two is due November 3rd, 2015 and we couldn't be more excited or feel more blessed.

I never really documented my first pregnancy on this blog- but I'm hoping to do periodic updates here just so I can keep track of things and be able to look back and remember. I remember quite a bit about Landon's pregnancy, but it would have been a lot easier to fill in that baby book if I had blogged about it every now and then.

So...

How far along am I? 12 weeks and 5 days, I'll be 13 weeks on Tuesday. 2nd Trimester here we go!

How have I been feeling? Amazingly good. With Landon I had sickness every night when I laid down to go to bed, but with this one? The sickness has been pretty nonexistent, which I am so thankful for. I can't imagine feeling bad while having to work full time and chase after a three year old. My only real symptom has been feeling tired. By the end of the work day, I'm pooped!

Weight gain? None yet...but lemme tell you its amazing how your body changes in just a few weeks time! With Landon I gained forty five whopping pounds, so I'm gonna try and stay well below that this time :)

Gender? too early to know, but 99% of our friends and family are guessing girl. I don't have any distinct feelings as to boy or girl yet, but if you ask me, I lean towards boy. Maybe thats just wishful thinking that I'll get to reuse all those cute boy clothes I've bought over the past three years. :)

Names? We've pretty much finalized our boy name, but are pretty clueless about girl names...we have one potential first name, no middle names. luckily we have time!

So there's our news! We are so so excited and can't wait until November to love on our sweet baby!

Easter 2015

Two weeks after the fact I finally get the pictures off my camera.

We had such a full weekend, I felt like I needed a day to recover! Saturday we worked around the house, and then that afternoon we went to my sister and brother in law's house for an egg hunt with the three cousins. Landon had an egg hunt at preschool earlier in the week, so he was a seasoned pro when it came time for this hunt. He had a ball running around finding the eggs.

On Sunday we woke up and went to church for the Easter Service and then came home to do the Easter basket thing. We've decided not to do the basket first thing in the morning. It is already hectic enough trying to get to church on time, without the distraction of candy and goodies! So the Easter bunny came to visit while we were at church.

I try and keep Landon's basket simple- eggs with a little candy, a coloring book, a slinky, and a fishing net. I found everything that went into the basket in the dollar spot at Target! Its so easy for holidays to get out of hand and become commercial, and while we really Landon to enjoy the fun of the Easter bunny, we also want to keep the focus on the real reason for the holiday.

After church, we went outside to snap a few pictures of monkey in his church outfit. That boy loves himself a bow tie! Getting a shot of Landon actually looking at the camera and not making a pouty or grouchy face is an act of congress in itself, so I'm pretty happy that I was able to get a couple of him in his Easter outfit without said faces. Of course I had some help from John, who was in the background acting like a fool to get him to laugh. Whatever it takes, y'all.

And as always, one shot of the three cousins on the swing at Nana and Boppa's house. This was after meltdown central took place, of course. And this is the best picture I got. One out of three smiling and looking at the camera isn't too bad!

Macy's 7th Birthday

On March 12 my niece Macy turned seven years old. I really have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that she is SEVEN. I feel like she should still be three or four! For her birthday, she had a bowling party, which was a huge hit with Landon and my nephew Sam. Landon has been asking to go bowling (or basing as he calls it, I have no idea why) since that day. I'm pretty sure we're going to have to implement family bowling days in the near future!

Happy Birthday Macy!! We love you so very much!

DC Engagement Shoot

You know what happens when you happen to be best friends with your big sister? You gain a lot of adopted big sisters in the process through all of her friends. I have about 3 non-biological big sisters that I am also so blessed to call friends of mine, Whitney being one of those. She and her soon to be husband, Shawn, live in Arlington, VA and were engaged around Christmas in front of the White House Christmas Tree in December. In January, she contacted me about coming up for a girls weekend and also extended the offer for me to take their engagement photos. Talk about feeling honored!

As the weekend came a little closer, we realized that Saturday was going to be a total wash of a day since the weather forecast was calling for a 90% chance of rain. So we pushed the shoot to Sunday morning before we left town. It was 40 degrees, overcast, and windy, but Whitney and Shawn were troopers and if they were freezing, they hid it well in the pictures!

I am so in love with how these images turned out, and so incredible honored to have the opportunity to shoot engagement photos in our nations capitol for this gorgeous couple. Looking forward to the big day in October!
