Strawberry Picking | 2015

One of my favorite weekends of the year is the weekend we first go strawberry picking. I know it sounds silly, but to me it is the official kick off to summer, warmer weather, longer days, and the simple things in life. After a long cold winter and spring, there's nothing better than getting outdoors, getting some sunshine and picking strawberries straight from the plant. (And eating a few along the way if I'm being really honest).

This is our third year going to High Rock Nursery in Lexington, NC. They're family owned and operated and are the nicest people. We've bought plants and other vegetables from them, and each year we pick strawberries at least two times there. Each year, Landon becomes even more of a pro and enjoys it just as much as I do, I think. This year he was way more interested in eating than picking and even found himself a nice little seat right in the middle of the rows to enjoy himself a snack.

We went back again the next weekend for round two and have been loving having fresh strawberries in our house and for lunch each day. I really hope that as Landon grows up, this is one of the traditions that he loves and appreciates, and hopefully carries on with his kids. It truly is the simple things, like homegrown strawberries, that make life so sweet.
